Academia Sensuum (“Academy of the Senses”) was founded in the spring of 2024 by the members of the Saint-Michael’s Fellowship as a platform for dialogue and training, with La Rivelaine as its home.
For decades, this place of harmony has offered fertile ground for encounter and dialogue. It is also a place where an awareness of our deep connection with the world, with nature, and with all living beings is awakened — in a quest for peace and harmony that expands like ripples on water.
Convinced that the sustainable future of our planet depends on fostering ecological harmony and strengthening our interconnectedness with all forms of life, Academia Sensuum seeks to serve both the world and society. Through a diverse educational programme — workshops, lectures, concerts, exhibitions… — its founders aim to “dig wells for the water for future generations.”
The name Academia Sensuum refers both to a systematic approach to learning and to an integral exploration of the senses — in all meanings of the word.
The educational programme of Academia Sensuum unfolds through regular and varied cycles, inviting all who are interested to take part in one or several modules, offered both online and in person.
The Academy pays particular attention to the exploration and cultivation of the human senses —
At the same time, it seeks to be a place for deepening meaning itself:
a space for research, dialogue, and reflection on the existential, spiritual, and metaphysical dimensions of human experience.
These two orientations converge within a programme in continuous development, where the education of the senses aligns closely with the search for meaning — an approach that is both embodied and contemplative.
