Located between the kitchen garden ('le potager') and the central courtyard of La Rivelaine, the Salle du Potager opens onto a landscape where stone and greenery meet in perfect harmony. Light flows through the space, creating a calm and inspiring atmosphere.
Covering 120 square metres, the hall lends itself to a wide range of activities: conferences, concerts, seminars, music workshops, visual arts sessions, yoga, and meditation. Every project finds its natural place here, in a setting that encourages both focus and relaxation.
The Salle du Potager can comfortably accommodate up to 80 people, yet retains its warmth and balance even when hosting much smaller groups. With its grand piano, pleasant acoustics, and gentle brightness, it offers a simple yet refined ambiance that guests quickly come to appreciate.
Easily accessible — just a five-minute walk from the train station and with ample on site parking — the hall is well suited for study days, cultural gatherings, or musical events.
Further enhancements are planned, including professional audiovisual equipment and a welcoming area for coffee breaks and light lunches. But already, those who come here speak of a place that invites connection, creativity, and the quiet joy of shared moments.
Enter the fascinating world of incense – an age-old, cross-cultural ritual element that connects people and brings them together at the threshold where the visible and the invisible meet.
During your visit, a veil is gently lifted on the refined production process developed and carefully maintained by Insensum. Special attention is given to the deeply human language of scent, where the sensory and the inner worlds converge, and memory finds its home.
Visitors can explore not only the incense and related Insensum products (such as candles, soaps, and diffusers), but also incense burners and other complementary creations.
Guided visits generally take place on the third Saturday of each month, or by appointment on another day.
The incense workshop can also be visited in combination with a tour of the remarkable gardens of La Rivelaine – an experience where fragrance, nature, and silence enrich and complete one another.
In Japanese, ikigai (生き甲斐) means “reason for being.” It is the meeting point between what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what gives your life meaning.
The Zen garden of La Rivelaine, called Ikigai-en (生き甲斐園), is a place where this idea takes shape —
an invitation to rediscover the simplicity of gesture and the silent presence of all living things.
It is a space of contemplation, quiet beauty, and inner balance.
"Beauty surrounds us,
but it is when we walk through a garden
that we truly realise it."
It was once a vast, abandoned farmhouse.
Today, old and new cottages are arranged in the manner of a béguinage, forming a serene and harmonious ensemble.
Landscape architect Bernard de Renesse has imagined ten gardens, each with its own atmosphere. Together, they connect the 1,400 square meters of built space into a living whole.
At the entrance to the garden, along the façade of the barn, the eye is first drawn to a narrow mineral corridor. Linking the buildings, red brick, blue stone, cobblestones, and limestone blend with boxwood, ivy, ferns, and hydrangeas.
An Italian-style staircase, bordered by two pools, leads to a yew gate, opening southward...

Once dedicated to the storage of hay, the barn at La Rivelaine retains the charm and strength of its rural architecture.
A monumental witness to an rich history, it now opens itself to a new vocation: becoming a living space for transmission, dialogue, and the celebration of the bond between nature, culture, and the search for meaning.
While awaiting the implementation of an ambitious renovation project, the barn can already host a variety of events — concerts, theatre performances, dance workshops, or exhibitions.
A place of transition between memory and renewal, it is destined to become a space where life, wisdom, nature, and culture meet in a spirit of harmony.
Would you like to stop off at La Rivelaine and enjoy the peace and quiet of the place?
