Meister Eckart
Through their daily life at La Rivelaine — shaped by work, hospitality, and prayer — the members of Saint Michael's Fellowship create the living and structural framework that ensures the care of the estate, the continuity of the project, and the preservation of an atmosphere of peace and contemplation.
A sung prayer service according to the Byzantine liturgical tradition marks the beginning and the close of each day:
First Hour (Morning Prayer): 8:00 – 8:25
Vespers (Evening Prayer): 18:00 – 18:40
These services are open to all who wish to participate — either in person or remotely via live audio transmission.
They can also be listened to afterwards:
🔹 Previous recordings
🔹 Calendar – indicating the days, times, and variable texts
(Psalter and Gospel for the morning, Psalter for the evening).

A ‘rivelaine’ is a thin two-pointed pickaxe used in the past by miners and shaft diggers. This tool was used to score horizontal lines in the rock, marking out grooves for cutting the stones.
The rivelaine was therefore essential for unearthing well-formed blocks of stone from the raw material offered by the mine:
It brought to light what was already potentially present in the riches of the earth.
As the name of the estate that is home to Saint Michael's Fellowship, it is also a fitting symbol of the vision and practical meaning of the project fostered by its members:
To offer creative tools that can delineate and shape the building blocks and resources that will help to create a sustainable future for our planet and humanity.
.
Inspired by the rich monastic traditions of the Christian East and West, the Saint Michael's Fellowship brings together men and women united by a shared inner quest: to live a spirituality that honours the sanctity of each person and celebrates our deep bond with nature.
This shared path fosters a unique synergy among people from diverse backgrounds — culture, science, spirituality, social engagement, and the world of business — who gather in an exceptional place to engage in dialogue, reflection, and action in response to the major challenges of our time.
Founded in 2023, the Fellowship took the form of a non-profit association (ASBL) called the “Monastic Association for Encounter and Dialogue” [MAED]. Its vocation is to develop and maintain a space where contemplative life and disinterested hospitality enter into dialogue with the spiritual quest of people today.
The Fellowship’s primary intention is to be a living space in which our human talents, insights and senses - physical, intellectual and spiritual - are invited to participate in a spirit of solidarity with the rest of creation.
